New School Year-Fall 2023

September marks the beginning of school in Haiti. As the children prepare for school, their families purchase new shoes, backpacks and school uniforms. Children argue about getting up and a new routine is difficult just like in the United States. School in Haiti looks very different than in the US, but the importance of a great education is the same. Students learn to read and write in Creole, French and English, are taught Math, Science, Social Studies and Bible. The significance of the education of Haitian children cannot be emphasized enough, children are more likely to be trapped in a cycle of poverty and vulnerability that often accompany a lack of education. At New Song School we pride ourselves on the reputation we have in our community. Students attend New Song because the education they receive is top notch!

Not only do students attend school for a lower rate than they can in most schools, but New Song also feeds the students a well rounded meal everyday. For most students, this may be the only meal they receive each day, so it is important to attend school for more than an education. A nutritious meal allows children to focus better so they can receive a better education.

New Song Teachers receive training to present a great education. Our teachers are positively impacting the next generation and preparing them not only with an education but life skills needed to survive in a difficult country like Haiti. These teacher are investing in the lives of the future!
